50k Training

Training for this 50k might be the death of me. Things just keep coming up. What's up with that? I had tonsillitis again two weeks ago (number 7?). We moved out of our apartment, so I'm hoping it was the apartment getting me sick and that I'll be fine now. My shin is much better so I've been able to increase my mileage. I'm up to 8 miles. Woo-hoo (that was a saracastic woo-hoo). It actually felt REALLY great running those 8 miles. My last run over 6 miles was in February. What? Yeah. I was looking forward to running 12 miles last Saturday, but Megan's pancreas had a different plan. Gallstones, pancreas, removal of the gallbladder. Long story. No long run. I'm actually sitting in the hospital room with a sick sister as I type. No worries. I'm having much more fun sitting here eating reese's peanut butter cups and trying to NOT make Megan laugh (it hurts her to laugh). I'll get my long run in this week. I might throw in an extra mile or two to take care of the reese's. Also, I picked up cross-stitching. What? I just finished my first one a couple hours ago (5 days in a hospital room...). I'll have to post a picture of it when I get home. I'm pretty proud of it. By the way, Megan's fine and we hope to go home tomorrow. :)

Anyway... I'm determined to run (or maybe walk or crawl) this 50k in October. I'll let you know how the training goes and if I ever get over 10 miles. That will be an accomplishment.

Have a great week, everyone. I hope to post again soon (but don't hold your breath). :)

Lisa, thank goodness Megan has you. What a blessing you are. I love you.

Sending "get better" vibes to Megan - sounds like a miserable weekend!!!

A 50K - that's crazy! Right? I hope that your tonsillitis is gone for good. It has been around way too long. Running is as much mental as physical, right? I hope you get your long run in. 6 miles is a long run for me...

And cross-stitching - sounds great! It makes me crazy, but Scott really liked it at one time.

I'll walk or crawl with you at Goblin Valley. Seriously. I'm kind of scared. I'm glad you don't have tonsillitis any more. Well, you might. I haven't talked to you yet today. Beautiful #2, you are such a blessing. Love you Mom! Okay, bye.

I think we're all freaking out about the 50K a bit. Or at least all of us 50K virgins are. We're lucky to have Scott and your dad as our resident experts as we try to do this thing.

Btw--my word verification is "imbagin." For some reason I find that funny. :)
