One Year Old

I'm ONE!!!!!!

I can not believe it's been a year since this little girl was born!  Sophie has brought so much joy to our lives.  One of my favorite things is waking up to Sophie talking in her crib, then putting her in our bed with us to cuddle and play until we get the energy to get up for real.  She is so cute.  She talks so much now (we pretend we know what she's saying).  She walks and runs all over the place.  She is so curious and loves discovering new things.  It's fun watching her learn something for the first time.  She points at things now and talks to us like it's the most important thing in the world.

Her well child check up is next week, so I'll post her stats later.  She is definitely getting taller and skinnier now that she's cruising.  She is eating more solids, but still prefers nursing and that's just fine with me.

Sophie already loves Christmas!  My mom has several nativities around the house and we go around talking about Baby Jesus.  She hears lots of Christmas songs as she goes to sleep now (just like when she was born!).  And of course, she is fascinated with Santa (she hasn't seen a real one yet, just the ones in snow globes and stuff around the house).  She likes to say, "Ho, ho, ho!"  But mostly she loves Christmas because she knows she's going to see lots of family soon!

It has been a fun-filled year and we're all excited for the next year (although I'm okay with freezing time...).

 Grandma, Sophie, and Emma

She is definitely a sippy cup girl

 Look at me cruising!

Let me take all the books out so I can get in. :)

Waiting for a train to pass with Zoe (and Melanie--not pictured)

Quick Update

Sophie is walking!  She's been walking full force for a couple weeks.  I have lots of videos, but I'm having difficulty uploading them.  I'll keep trying...  She is actually running!  She can't get anywhere fast enough.  It's very cute.  You can tell she's getting stronger and more confident every day.  And we are getting more tired every day. :)  This is one BUSY little girl.  She falls and hurts herself all day long.  Usually there's crying involved, sometimes bandaids, sometimes emergency room runs (okay, just once), and always lots of hugs and kisses and cuddles.  You can't stop this girl.  And believe me, we try. :)

She got a rash about a week and a half ago on her face.  It was really itching her, but nothing else was wrong.  A few days later the rash was worse and she was SO sick.  She had a cough (her first cough), icky congestion, and she was eating very little and throwing up everything that went down.  She slowly got better and the rash went away just today.  She is actually sleeping better now than she has since she was 3 or 4 months old. :)  The doctor said it was viral, so we just had to wait it out. :(

So, that's our quick update. Enjoy the cute baby mohawk picture. :)

10 Months

Here is our 10 month old sweetie.  She has 6 teeth now (4 top, 2 bottom).  She has taken up to 5 steps but still isn't too confident with the walking thing yet.  She claps and says "bye bye".  To her they both mean the same thing. :)  She is learning how to kiss.

She loves her great grandma and her great grandma loves her!

If Eddy and Sophie are in the house at the same time, they are stuck like glue.  Pop is always doing interesting things that need Sophie's undivided attention.

This is one of her favorite look-out spots.

Mom and daughter

Happy family!

 Snuggly baby

Sonny got tired from our trip around the farm that he just made himself comfortable on lawn mower.

And stayed there all the way home.

9 Months Old

Sophie is 9 months old!!!  We love, love, LOVE her!  Here is what she's been up to.

She is crawling all over the place, climbing everything, and walking along the couch, table, chairs, anything!  It is very hard to keep up with her and she's not even walking on her own yet.  We have barricades (chairs layed on their side) throughout the downstairs to keep her safe.

She has 4 teeth.  Two on the bottom middle.  Two on the top, but not the middle ones.  The ones next to where the middle ones should be.  It is really cute and I will try my hardest to get a picture.  All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth....

Sophie no longer likes sleeping through the night.  I blame it on the teeth wanting to come through.  She wakes up constantly pretty much all night long.  It's been fun. :)

Her favorite place to sleep is in bed with Mom and Dad.

Sophie has crawled all the way to the top of the stairs (with me close behind).  She loves it and you can tell she has a sense of accomplishment when she reaches the top.

She is eating solids now, but still nursing like crazy.  She HATES eating with a spoon, so we've pretty much given that up for now.  She can pick little puff snacks and peas up and put them in her mouth.  Her favorite food is yogurt.  Go-gurts!  And she loves apple sauce, bananas, peas, bread, and pretzels.

She loves her grandma and my little cousins most.  Any time Emma, Amber, Olivia, or Haley walk in the door she is all smiles and giggles.  She will sit in the play room with them and just watch them playing and talking and singing.  She joins in as much as she can.

Oh yeah, she loves to talk.  She is mimicking us already!  I say, "Sophie, say dadadadada."  And she does.  She also says, "momomomom".  And my mom and I both heard her copy us when we said "grandma".  We've only heard that one once, though.  And she pretty much uses all her other consonants and vowels.  Yeah, I think she's a genius. :)

She is now in two piece sleepers.  Waaaaah!!!!  They didn't have any 12-18 month one piece sleepers anywhere that we could find.  So we had to buy her two piece sleepers.  I was very sad, but they are cute so it's ok.  To me it just means she's growing up.

She loves reading already. :)  Her favorite books are, "Mr Brown Can Moo, Can You?", "The Very Busy Spider", "Pouch", and "Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb".

Temper tantrums.  Already.

She loves her dad and giggles the most with him.  He also plays the hardest with her.  Throwing her and running around the house with her.  She loves it. :)

She loves her toys, but what she wants most is paper.  If you leave a piece of paper anywhere she will find it.  And eat it.  She's a little goat.

She likes watching puppets on tv.  Random.

She likes "driving" my mom's truck.  When we're on the farm road we get her out of her car seat and she loves to drive.  Just smiling and giggling.

She still hates her car seat.  I really don't blame her.

She loves everyone, but she is starting to get a little sad when Mommy's not holding her.

She's pretty much the cutest, sweetest baby in the whole world.

Here are some pictures and videos for your enjoyment.

Two Videos

Here's Sophie falling asleep in her bouncer (actually, a bouncer we borrowed from a friend).  I guess the Olympics were getting a little boring for her. :)

Since we had to give the other bouncer back to our friend in SC, Mom found this really old one in her attic.  We attempted to use the belt to make a little safety strap between her legs.  It was all wrapped and buckled, but she eventually undid it.  Oh, and she loves to talk.

At Home In Texas

We moved to Texas!!  Travis got a job in Texas really close to my mom.  We are staying with her and Eddy for a little bit--and having lots of fun.  Here are some pictures of us hanging out before Travis started work.

Working in the garden with Grandma and Lucy (the dog).

Did Travis really think he would get a break before work started? :)

Hm, what flavor are these rocks??

Where did Grandma go?

Sophie loves the dogs!  She really wanted to get in on this action.  Lucy likes Sophie, but Sonny (the big black one) gets up and finds another place to plop himself whenever Sophie is near.  I'll have to get a video of it. :)

Taking a break from packing back in SC.

Playing with the giant elephant from Nonny and Papa.

This is on the drive to Texas.  We drove during the day.  And learned that she does much better when we drive through the night.  But she did pretty good.  Here she is sleeping.  So cute.

Sophie got lots of Daddy time while he had a week off between jobs.

Are piano lessons in her future??  You bet!

Travis' attempt at getting a picture of both of us. :)

Here we are waiting for our car to be inspected (gotta love TX).  Isn't she a cutie?

Mom pulled this rocking bouncer thing out of the attic.  Sophie loves it!!
