This was Sophie's first trip to the zoo. She slept for most of it, but we had fun anyway. And the animals were extra cute when we were there. I guess they enjoy 90 degree weather!
Do you see the baby hanging out of the momma's pouch eating?
This was way too close for comfort for me.
Sophie's cousins, Abby and Wesley
The trip and the heat were worth it just to see these two wrestling!
"I thought you said there would be a/c here...."
At home
Living on the edge...
Sophie is officially a rolly poly and sitter upper (pics to come...)!
Sophie is 6 months old! It has gone WAY too fast. Boo-hoo! Anyway, she is doing great. Her well-child check up was yesterday. Dr. Stafford said it's time for her to be in her own room--she's a big girl. I almost cried. He doesn't sugar coat things. But I went home and put her pack 'n play up. She's now in her own room. We don't have a monitor and Dr. S said not to get one. Unless we're going outside while she's napping or something. He said we'll hear her when she cries at night, especially living in an apartment. Sigh. Actually, last night was her first night in her own room and she did fine. Just woke up once like normal.
Also, Sophie is rolling over more now. Pretty much just belly to back, but sometimes the other way. She's not rolling all over the floor yet, but she's definitely getting there.
Dr. S also said we could start feeding her solids--skip the baby food. She was not interested at all in the mashed potatoes and peas last night. Of course she loved the nilla wafer Grandma gave her a couple weeks ago. She must be my child. Dr. S said she's gaining weight great just on milk so she really doesn't need the solids, but we can start her on them if we want. We'll probably just keep trying until she's interested.
I asked Travis what else to put about Sophie at 6 months and he said, "She's the cutest, sweetest, most beautiful baby in the whole wide world--no offense to other babies out there."
18 lbs 2 oz
27 in
85th percentile for both (do you think she's going to be tall?)
Sophie loves her dad!
Here's a quick one (I didn't realize it was on video...)
We went to Texas for a week--Sophie's first trip there. And it was the first time for all of my family there to see her (except my mom, of course). She was so happy and loved playing with everyone. Can't wait to go back!
Grandma showing Sophie the chickens and turkeys and gardens.
She slept great here. Long naps and good nights (in general). Probably exhausted from having way too much fun. :)
I love this picture of Aunt Katie with four of her (6) girls (plus one boy on a mission).
Babies just make people smile, don't they?
She did pretty well on the 17 hour car ride--both ways. We (Travis) drove through the night so she slept most of the time. She had a few fussy moments, but mostly she was ok. She doesn't love the car, so we are glad we all survived. The next two pictures suggest otherwise. :)
Gas stop! I would say this was also a feeding stop, but she refused to eat in the car. She is a very distractable baby. But she's cute so it's okay.
