Palmetto 5K

Travis and I ran a fun 5k on Saturday at the Village of Sandhills here in Columbia. I was planning on going for a PR, but when I woke up with this on the back of my throat (see picture below), I wasn't really feeling up to it. Ouch. Yes, for those of you keeping count, this is the THIRD time I've had something related to strep this year (doctors still don't know exactly what). I slept for only a few hours the night before and really didn't want to even get out of bed when the alarm went off at 6:00am. But it was just a 5k, right...? :)

Here we are standing at the start line (in red). Megan came with us and took pictures. We're at the front of the group only because there weren't a lot of runners. We knew we were going to take it nice and easy. This was a really neat race because of all the free stuff they had for us. They had a catered meal the night before that was free for runners and their families (this was actually a half marathon race with a little 5k also). It was this new wood-fired Italian pizza place. They didn't bring pizza, but LOTS of pasta . It was really yummy. And then they had Panera goodies at the end of the race. Everything you could imagine. I really wish I had been feeling better so I could have enjoyed it more. :) This was Travis' first official 5k--even though he ran a 15k with me last year. Up a mountain.

We finished in 31:59. A PR for Travis! :) This was a really fun race and only wish I had been feeling better to enjoy it more. But there's another 5k on Mother's Day weekend. I think I'll try for that PR.
We decided to make eclairs when Megan came because... well, no one can make them like Megan. Sorry to torture you with pictures. They were really good!

Travis--Congrats!!

Lisa--I will speak for both of us and say--all this stuff keeping us from running has got to stop!

Megan--I had no idea that you had a secret talent of making eclairs! Also--you look so pretty in that pic! And check your email...or I guess I could just call...duh!

Haha! I like the picture of your throat. Too bad about not being able to go for a PR. I can't believe you not only got out of bed that day, and not only went to the race to cheer Travis on, but you RAN! You crazy girl! I WANT ECLAIRS!

Those eclairs look fantastic! I remember when we were roommates and you were talking about training for a marathon- it's cool to see how much of a runner you are now.

Any time you want to take a road trip, come visit us in Auburn!

Why didn't Megan make those eclairs when we all lived together?

So, I had no idea you had a blog, OR that you were a runner. Go you! My husband is pretty obsessed with barefoot running and is training for a marathon. It was awesome knocking on your door not knowing if you even still lived there to have Megan answer the door. Sorry we missed you. We're planning on going to the temple in a few wks. I'll call you soon to see if we can get together.
